Glastonbury Abbey and Glastonbury Tor: The Second Field Trip

Glastonbury is the premiere site in England associated with the Arthurian Legends. The Abbey goes back a thousand years and was once one of the richest and most powerful in all of England. Now only the ruins remain of what was a 9oo foot long cathedral on whose grounds monks claimed that they found the graves of Arthur and his queen.
Today actors tell about the medieval times and the time of Henry VIII and the destruction of the Catholic religious sites.

We'll also see and climb Glastonbury Tor, an amazing 500 foot tall hill rising out of an otherwise flat landscape. This hill, regarded by modern New Age religionists as a place of great spiritual energy, may be the source of the legendary Isle of Avalon where King Arthur was said by some to have been taken after his last battle.

The view from inside St. Michael's Chapel on top of the Tor. Definitely one of those places that you have to experience to understand.
